BAHRAIN, RACE 2

With the running of the weekend's second race, the GP2 Series completed their 2012 season debut at Al Sakhir, in Bahrain, and the Rapax Team ended up with Tom Dillmann in 10th place and Ricardo Teixeira in 13th.

Dillmann, who was starting from the third position on the grid, saw his chances for a podium finish evaporate at the start, as he stalled and was forced to take-off from the pit-lane. As he started last, he recovered great, move by move, hitting the 10th place, showing some great speed skills.

Teixeira gave further proof of his constant race-by-race improvement. The Angola-based racer, who was hit from behind right after the start, managed to fight back and climb up to a position close to points.

After this weekend, the GP2 Series teams won't be back home as usual. Everybody will stay in Bahrain to prepare for the next round, scheduled for the next weekend. The racing program will start on Friday with the running of qualifying and Race 1, while Race 2 will be run the following day, Saturday.

“The first start was aborted because of an issue happened to another car, then at the second procedure I stalled my engine in the moments before the start. The most classic mistake made our chances to fight for a top result vanish immediately. It's been a mistake of mine but luckily we'll be back on-track in a few days. I don't want to think about it. The race itself confirmed our speed potential and that just increase the regret for what it could have been".

“I'm happy to have got closer to the top-10, especially in the pretty animated first stages. Unfortunately I suffered from an early contact. At the first corner, Clos got into the back of my car and I lost a lot of time by navigating through the runoff area. Fortunately, the car wasn't damaged, and I improved my position lap-by-lap. It's a pity that the race ended so early because I could have made my way into the top-10 in just a few laps…"
